SPC flooring also known as Stone Plastic Composite is made from a combination of limestone powder (calcium carbonate), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and stabilisers. Unlike wood-based cores e.g., HDF in laminate flooring, the SPC core does not have fibres or pores that can absorb moisture, making it entirely waterproof and suitable for applications in: laundry rooms, basements, bathroom entrances and kitchens.
SPC flooring typically includes a wear layer (aluminium oxide), a printed decorative layer, and the SPC core, topped with a UV coating making it resistant to scratches and stains and holds up well to wear and tear even in high-traffic areas. Typical SPC floors are made to be installed on top of just about any type of subfloor or existing floor as long as it’s flat and sound.Adopting a quick locking system, with quick installation, save time and cost without glue. Tight and even interlock technology avoids crash of edges and water leakage; it’s an ideal choice for places requiring high ensemble effect. Additional benefit is it installs about 40% faster than traditional glue.
It’s also worth noting that while SPC flooring can imitate the look of natural materials, it may not fully replicate the feel or texture of materials like hardwood. Hardwood flooring i.e solid or engineered are natural products which means that two or more boards will often display varied knots, sap and other natural wood characteristics between each board. This adds to their charm.
